Chapter 34: Leave Your Itinerary Before Backpacking

It’s a good idea to leave your backpacking itinerary with a friend or family member since you can’t always control injuries, the weather, forest fires, and car breakdowns. It doesn’t have to be fancy. Just include the general area, trailhead, hike plan, and expected return time. Let others know whether you’ll be carrying your cell phone, or if you don’t expect to have coverage.
