Ultralight Shelters![]() Six Moon Designs Lunar Solo Tent - Only 23 ounces
The Lunar Solo Enhanced is the next generation Lunar Solo tent. It packs a tremendous amount of room, weather protection and features into its incredibly light 1.5 pound package. The Lunar Solo is designed to provide a comfortable home whether you find yourself atop a treeless ridge in the Colorado Rockies or weathering a summer deluge on the Appalachian Trail. Its low hexagonal shape easily spills the wind no matter the direction. Short steeply-sloped sides handle snow or high winds with ease. A generous canopy covers a 27.5 sq. ft. sleeping area plus 10 sq. ft. of vestibule storage. The 45" peak height, set in the middle of the tent maximizes room for sitting and taking care of chores. The sleeping area is surrounded by 15" high mesh walls. The mesh ensures excellent ventilation while keeping you separated from low canopy walls. This keeps you drier on those occasions when condensation forms on the canopy. The vestibule is set on the long side of the tent to maximize views and ventilation when fully open. Close it and you've got phenomenal protection from the worst storms. Features
Optional Ultralight FloorThe Lunar Solo comes standard with a floor of 70 Denier Silicone Nylon. which has many of the properties of traditional tent floors. The Silicone-coated floor offers the added advantage of not mildewing or delaminating, as happens with Polyurethane coated floors. If you select the Ultralight Floor option, additional care should be taken in site selection of your tent. While it's waterproof, your body weight can force water through the floor if it pools under the tent. An additional layer of 3MM plastic cloth placed under the tent can minimize this effect.

![]() Six Moon Designs Lunar DuoThe Lunar Duo may not be the perfect two person three season tent, but it's pretty darn close. This ultralight shelter offers dual doors and vestibules so each person has their own entry. With a height of 45 inches the Lunar Duo offers the most interior room of any tent in its class and weight range. Two curved spacer poles on either side create an arched roof with excellent room to sit up and change without constantly annoying your partner. The Lunar Duo's two vestibules can be opened fully to create a lot of cross-ventilation, keeping you cool and those pesky mosquitoes at bay. When closed, you can raise or lower the height of the vestibule to multiple positions to ensure you've got the right mix of protection, ventilation, and view. The wide canopy allows for vertical mesh sidewalls, eliminating the possibility of rain falling into the tent when you enter or exit. The high and wide canopy gives you plenty of room to move around in without bumping into the walls. Side entry provides room for oversize doors to ease entry and exit from the tent. It allows for oversize vestibules that provide plenty of extra weatherproof storage. A zipper closure of each vestibule keeps tensioning correct. Once open you can choose to fold back either door depending upon conditions. Features

$275 No. 2706 Six Moon Designs Lunar Duo Tent ![]() Six Moon Designs Gatewood Cape/ShelterThis ain't your dad's Poncho Tarp! Anyone stuck on a high ridge camped under a poncho/tarp in a major blow knows the hours to daylight are going to be long hard ones. Face it, unless you're small enough to qualify for a job as one of Willy Wonka's Oompa Loompa's, ponchos don't provide much protection. Sure, you can add a bivy to your pack, but that's more weight and another single use piece of gear to carry. The Gatewood Cape is designed to provide full protection either when worn as a cape or used as a shelter. Unlike ponchos, capes don't have long slits along the sides. While the poncho may allow for more ventilation, it does little to keep out wind blown rain. Dual zipper pulls on the front of the Gatewood Cape allow you to regulate ventilation while still providing full protection. Plus, the open skirted design allows fresh air to enter the bottom. As a shelter, the Gatewood Cape provides significantly enhanced protection than a poncho/tarp. Its design easily sheds rain or snow and wind simply flows around it. Any sudden change in wind direction in the middle of the night won't leave you scrambling to re-orient your shelter or force you deeper into your bivy. A poncho's flat rectangular shape provides a number of setup configurations, however every configuration leaves one or mores sides exposed to the elements. The Gatewood Cape is a shaped tarp and eliminates all exposed sides, leaving you safe and secure. Plus shaped tarps are much easier to consistently pitch correctly. The center pole with 6 stakes anchors the shelter rock solid to the ground. The taut setup eliminates the noise of sides flapping in the breeze common with poorly pitched tarps. With 35 square feet of coverage under the shelter's canopy, you've got plenty of room for you and your gear. Depending upon conditions, you can even adjust the vestibule to different heights to increase ventilation . A long zipper on the vestibule makes opening and closing the shelter a snap. For the adventuresome day hiker, the Gatewood Cape makes the perfect addition to your 10 essentials survival kit. It packs down incredibly small and provides piece of mind knowing you've got excellent protection close at hand. Features

The Wild Oasis is a lean, mean, no frills, down and dirty shelter for ultralight hikers on the move. It's so small and light it might literally get lost in your pack.
The Wild Oasis is large enough for a comfortable nights rest without the claustrophobia of a small tarp. It's full 360-degree protection eliminates the need to carry an additional bivy. And with it's mesh skirt, you don't need to carry a bug net to keep away those pesky mosquitoes.
The Wild Oasis zippered vestibule entrance makes entering and exiting the shelter a breeze.

Squall2

Cloudburst2
Double Rainbow

Rainshadow2

Tarptents have become standards in lightweight backpacking.
They’re made in the U.S.A. using the lightest and highest
quality materials. All four are ultralight, as light as 24 oz. if you
use a trekking pole. High tenacity 1.1 oz. silicone-coated ripstop
nylon, Easton aluminum 7075 (.034") poles, titanium stakes, and
reflective spectra cord guylines keep weight to an absolute minimum.
A true catenary ridgeline keeps the tent taut and strong in wind and
storms. Plenty of netting gives you views, airflow, and comfort from
bugs. Setup is easy and fast, using minimal stakes. The flexible
design lets you raise or lower the sides and front. The large floor
space gives you lots of room for gear. If it rains, the tent dries
quickly. The small packed size helps you carry a smaller, lighter pack.
All models now have extended, integrated and adjustable front and rear
beaks for protection and ventilation.
Zippered entries tie off with velcro. Interiors have a flashlight loop.
A stuff sack is included. The fabric weight of the 1.1 oz. ripstop
nylon is about 1.4 oz. per square yard with the silicone coating. The
titanium stakes are 7 inches long and weigh approximately .4 oz. per
stake. The 7075 Easton aluminum poles weigh 2 oz. each. Prices do not
include poles for the Contrail, Squall2, and Rainshadow2. For windy
conditions, two
poles are recommended.
Silicone impregnated ripstop nylon is waterproof within
“normal operating conditions.” In heavy rain that
is driven with strong winds some extremely light interior misting is
normal and equivalent to increased interior humidity. Simple seam
sealing with GE Silicone II clear sealer/glue on the ridgeline and rear
arc protect the seams and stitching.
The Contrail is as light as most bivies and has great space for one.
The
Squall2 has room for two and is the best solution when minimal weight
is your concern. The Double Rainbow has extra room for two. Both can
comfortably sit up in the front of the Double Rainbow. The Rainshadow2
sleeps three or has extra room for two. The Rainbow incorporates your
trekking poles at its base to become the world's first single-arch,
free-standing shelter. It's exceptionally roomy and light at less
than 2 lbs. The Double Rainbow uses your trekking poles of
140cm or longer, or 130cm with optional extenders, to make a
free-standing two-person shelter.
The prices and weights listed
include the extended floor.
